While I was in Lagos last week, I had lunch at Craft Gourmet. I had never heard of it and I didn't know where we were going but I was open to trying somewhere new that wasn't terra kulture, our usual lunch spot.
We arrived at megaplaza and I was a little skeptical because I had never gone there for anything else but shawarma but then again what do I know? (I don't live in lagos). I was pleased when we got off the elevator and I saw the restaurant. It looked nice and different. DISCLAIMER: There are probably other places like craft gourmet in Nigeria, I just don't know them. Anyway for whatever reason it reminded me of the Ladurée in Soho, NYC. Ladurée's decor is more elaborate but I got the same vibe at Craft Gourmet.
First they took the drinks order. My fitness champ BF ordered a bottle of water and I got the pink prosecco which came in carafe -- I obviously wasn't mad about that 😋.
I knew I wanted pasta but I couldn't decide between the spicy shrimp pasta and pesto pasta w/chicken. I ended up ordering the pesto and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat more than half of the portion which was pretty generous. It was the first time I've had pesto in Nigeria and I was pretty impressed. It was fresh and everything I could have asked for complete with chunks of chicken. Honestly, I still think about it every now and then and I'm low-key scouting places where I can get good pesto in Abuja. Yes, it's that serious. Sharing is caring! Pls comment below if you know where💞 Babe got a curry dish and it was also very good but I'm not a huge fan of curry.
It was a Tuesday afternoon and excluding our table, there were like 4 other people dining in the restaurant. The service was good. I was surprised at how quickly the food came out. On the menu it said it would take about 25 mins but it came in less than 15. I don't know how they're able to achieve such high quality in so little time😏 Meanwhile chicken capitol in Abuja takes one hour to make one order of shawarma😞
Anyway, this post wouldn't be complete if I didn't address the $$$. The good news is Craft Gourmet is not overpriced 👀 Our main meals (his curry + my pasta) were N5000-N8000 each. In addition the pink prosecco cost between N3000-N4000. I don't remember the exact prices but it's within the range.
All in all, I had a good experience here and I would definitely go back next time I'm in Lagos.
P.S. Shout out to NYSC + Abuja sun for my super tan.
