Hello! Let's get right to it!
For those who don't want to read the whole thing (even though you should) here's the gist:
Price - $27 /30ml
Claims - to target the most common signs of aging including brightness, firmness, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots & sun spots.
Verdict - good for brightening the skin and giving instant radiance
Price - $35.99 /60ml
Claims - It attacks pigmentation and immediately lightens brown spots and acne scars, bringing radiance and balance back to skin.
Verdict - Did not achieve what I bought it for based on a recommendation (fade my dark forehead).
I did not use either of the products with sunscreen, but I'm also rarely out in the sun.
A quick google search shows that facial serums are a lightweight moisturizer that penetrate deep in to the skin and deliver active ingredients where they are most needed. did i need to know this definition before buying any of these products ? Nope. All I knew was that facial serums are an additional step of the skin care process and I was looking to add more steps to mine. At the time I was researching Korean skincare because who doesn't aant skin that feels and looks as smooth as glass. While 10 steps is a lot, I felt like I could add one or two more steps to my current routine. So I opted for an essence, a serum and an eye cream. Okay so I actually added 3 products but I've only started using one. At least i know how to manage my expectations :p
I started using the COSRX months ago. At the time I was not looking for anything specific so I didn't notice any changes. Fast forward a couple weeks after that, I moved houses and then I moved again, so a lot of my stuff was in boxes including my COSRX serum. I finally unpacked and started reusing the serum about a month ago. Again no real results were noticed until i had a reference point.
REWIND::: What actually happened was while the rest of my stuff was in boxes, I bought the TruSkin vitamin c serum which was recommended by one of my friends because it would help with hyper pigmentation from sunburn on my forehead. It had helped her with the same issue. I really wanted to clear my forehead so I used this serum day and night for a period of 4-5 weeks. I was CONSISTENT. But I did not see any changes.
So I went back to the CosRX serum. While my forehead is pretty much the same, I will say that I like the CosRX serum because it gives me a glow. My skin looks more radiant when I use cosRX that when I was using the TruSkin vitamin c serum . There's an INSTANT radiance EFFECT with COSRX and I love it.
You know how you can't tell if something is good until you've tried something else that isn't? that's the case here. I needed a reference point i.e. the TRUskin serum to realize that the COSRX is worthy of some recognition. However, no changes with my darker forehead of previous acne scars.
ERM...I'm just now looking at a compiled review article of COSRX and people are talking about getting results in a year. I'm sorry but I'm used to getting results faster. But anyway, I guess it takes a year to get the full benefits of COSRX.
update: someone messaged me on IG and had the same comment about TruSKin. It did not work for her but she found @DrunkElephant's vitamin c serum and now swears by it. I'm going to try this next.
Thanks for reading .
