Obi and I had dinner at Orchid house. They have 2 locations (VI and Apapa).
Service - was good . they have a lot of staff and unlike at a lit of other places, they actually pay attention.
Food - we got the ribs to start but had to send them back. Because they came out looking like they were already eaten. We asked for a replacement and they said they all come like that because they are pre packed.
We got the chicken satay next. the peanut sauce was goo but the chicken on its own was pretty bland. Also for the price, I dont think this was worth it. The steamed rice is also over priced for the portion size. But i guess that's just how they do things.
The Pad keep pork which I ordered was the STAR of the meal for me. Super flavorful and with a generous portion of protein.
Obi got the Thai Red Curry. It was good but given the pad krao pao I was expecting more flavor from the curry dish. It was basically too mild for me. Also not as much protein in this one. Obi loved it though. It’s one of his fave dishes. They gave us a sample of their berry rice.. I tried it alone but it didn’t really taste like anything. I had it with the pork sauce and it tasted just like I was eating white rice with a sauce.
They end all meals here with some fresh fruit so we got a small plate of watermelon, pineapple and papaya (which I never liked since I was a child).
The vibe here is good. It's a good restaurant for a work lunch or even dinner date. they have some smaller/hidden seating arrangements which are ideal for couples. And a bigger room on the roof which can fit a private group of 20-30.
