Hi my loves! Welcome back to the blog, I've just left Barcelona so it's ideal for me to share this while it's fresh in my mind.
It's pretty much a food diary of the past 2 days.
On Saturday while I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I decided to take a walk. I was doing some light shopping on my way to THE RAMBLAS (popular for street stalls, restaurants and clothing stores), when I was got hit with a sudden pang of hunger. It was weird because in the moment I also knew what i wanted to eat. TACOS.
I searched and found Tacquerias Tamarindo; it's located around the PASSEIG DE GRACIA, which is like the Bond Street of London or 5th AVE of NYC. I rerouted without thinking twice.
I found myself at a cute taco restaurant, I was so hungry, that I wasn't even interested in taking pictures of the place, until my food came
I got a strawberry mojito, 2 pork tacos, 1 beef taco and 1 chicken taco. It was almost as if I knew the pork tacos would be amazing. I honestly regret getting anything else. I would've ordered more but I was full after the first round.
Total cost was about 15 EUROS.
EL NACIONAL - TAPAS AL CANTE
For dinner, my friend was excited to show me El Nacional. It's like a food court but a more sophisticated one in terms of the type of restaurants. We ate at TAPAS AL CANTE. Their serving style was really interesting; They go around with several servings of the different dishes (tapas style), and you an take whatever you want from the tray. You're not really allowed to order directly from the menu at certain times. I don't know if they take reservations; we waited about 25 in line to be seated; if we took the option of seating at the bar, it would have been only about 10 minutes.
We got the following:
- shrimp (delicious but not pictured here0
- potatoes/egg/ ham
To drink we got TINTO DE VERANO (basically red wine and lemon/sprite)
Total cost here was about 51 EUROS.
We came here for lunch on sunday.
The food here was amazing and I think a lot of people know it. if you would like to eat here, i recommend making a reservation the day before, otherwise you could be waiting for up to 40 minutes to be seated. It's by Barcelona beach so your table comes with a sea front view. We ordered the following and they were hits back to back: - mussels - cerviche - octopus - salmon avocado tacos-. Our bill came to 77 EUROS incl. 2 cocktails and a bottle of water.
My cocktail "Elisir'" pictured below, had gin, pineapple juice, passion fruit, cranberry, lemon and rose syrup. I would totally recommend it.
The one thing I regret was not having a proper paella while I in Barca. We had made reservations for dinner on Sunday at a paella place but were still full from lunch and had to cancel our reservation.
I'm not mad though; this gives me a reason to come back to Spain soon.
Thanks so much for reading!
Love & Light,
